Customers appreciate the 49-54 Firewall Brake Kit for its practicality and quality construction, even describing the engineering as "great". It is highly recommended for improving brake systems of vintage cars due to its simple and quick installation, as well as for its compatibility with certain models without any need of modifications. Users lauded the product's ability to easily convert older brake assemblies to an underdash/firewall setup. However, some customers noted issues with dash mounting brackets and requested better instructions. Overall, it enhances safety, efficiency, and transforms the appearance of the car. Despite a few construction criticisms, most would purchase it again.

Perfect brake pedal upgrade for my 54 BelAir!
I wanted to upgrade to a firewall mount master cylinder/booster on my 54 BelAir and this product fit the bill perfectly! Easy to install and all hardware is included. On 51-54 models make sure to use the supplied union adapters on the studs for the column mount to attach the bracket to dash. Without them, it won't line up correctly.

very close to a better review.....one area of concern
For my application, I have to make some further modifications to clear my engine which is not your problem BUT the mounting plate is not a good fit to firewall so much be shaved......but more importantly, the entire mounting of this big heavy safety -related thing is not different than for the OEM voltage regulator -- sheet metal screws!?! Surely this is not the best approach.

Only negative thing about this kit is it comes with sheet metal screws to attach the firewall plate which in my case didn't work as the holes in the firewall were too big so I went with thru bolts which provides a solid foundation fir the brake pedal assembly.

This is a well made kit and the way it utilizes the existing firewall access hole is great, however, I had difficulty with the dash mounting brackets. They weren't even close to matching the column mount in my stock 1949 Chevy Fleetline Deluxe. I had to do a fair amount of machining to make them fit. Other than that the kit went together well. I would recommend better instructions from CPP on how the brake pedal mount attaches to the dash.
