Retains Stock Battery Location and Access When Upgrading to a 12-Volt Charging System

When upgrading your classic 6-volt Chevy truck to the more modern 12-volt charging system you gain easier engine starting, brighter lighting, and the ability to easily add 12-volt accessories like lighting, audio, and more to your truck. For many hot rods the 12-volt route is easy, but for the ’47-’54 Chevy truck there is a bit of a challenge when considering where to fit the larger 12-volt battery. We’ve solved this issue with our direct fit steel battery tray. This tray replaces the smaller 6-volt tray in the same location on the passenger frame rail, allowing easy access through the factory battery door in the cab floor. The tray is designed to bolt into the stock location on the frame rail and accept the Optima Red Top AGM Group 34/78 battery. This box allows you to take advantage of a 12-volt system and a high-performance Optima battery without worrying about the hassles of a battery relocation.

A Battery Tray Built for The Long Haul That’s Easy to Install

This battery box is made in the USA using 16-gauge steel and is powder-coated black to resist corrosion. It utilizes the stock mounting holes in the frame rail. Simply cut/drill out the rivets that retain the factory box, then use the included bolts to attach the new box to the frame rail. The box comes complete with pass through holes that allow access to the transmission crossmember bolts without removing the box (just the battery) and is designed to use the battery hold-down that is included with all Optima Batteries.

Retaining the stock battery box location allows you to continue using the OEM access panel to install and remove the battery, while the AGM non-spillable design of Optima Batteries allows them to be tilted on their side to fit through the access panel then mounted in the traditional manner in our battery tray.
