The product, a steering wheel adapter, was highly praised for its quality which provided numerous options for adapting various steering wheels. Majority of our customers found the adapter compatible after slight modifications. Some customers used it successfully on Ford model vehicles and a 1937 Chevrolet. While some customers stated it did not readily fit certain early Ford models without machining, they mentioned the quality of the material made it a great base to start with for machining their adapters. A few customers shared their creative applications, including using the adapter on a custom boat and a 1955 VW bus steering column. The adapter was generally recommended for its practicality and good value, despite, in some cases, the need for additional bolts. The ability of the adapter to blend old and new parts was applauded, as was the easy installation process. Some customers voiced that improvements could be made to ensure the adapter fits universally, minimizing the need for modifications.

From a Ford to a custom boat!
I bought this to adapt to a tiller rope and drum steering setup on a small boat I am building. The shaft on the steering shaft had a hole drilled in it on the tapered portion of the shaft (same taper as the hub). I measured for this hole carefully and transferred the location to the adapter hub which locates with a keyway and key. I drilled the hub to a number 7 and enlarged the hole in the shaft slightly to the number 7 drill bit, then tapped both holes to 1/4"-20. A 1/2" long setscrew locks them together. They fit perfectly and look as though they belong together! I added the Grant 570 steering wheel for the sprint car look with the horn button retainer and horn button and polished the aluminum mount for the steering shaft. Everything fit perfectly and all is shiny! Beautiful pieces and perfect fit.

Nice piece, not a bolt on and go though.
Nice piece, but it came with no hardware, if I'm not mistaken, its a metric thread, which meant a trip to Ace Hardware to get three bolts, nothing I had in the garage would fit, ugh. THEN, the taper was off for my '31 Model A, had to take a 4" flapper disc to my steering shaft to remove quite a bit of taper in order to get it down far enough to get some threads showing to bolt on the wheel.

I used this to attach my steering wheel (Grant-type, 3-bolt pattern, 1.51" centers") to my 3/4" dia. steering shaft in my boat (was a forklift steering box). I sanded down the end of my steering shaft to fit the taper of this adapter hub and cut a grinded a keyway to match this adapter, then welded a 5/8 shaft and cut the threads to put a nut on, to press & hold everything on the tapered shaft. Some work involved, but this adapter made a great starting point.
