Our 14-inch Flat Base Air Cleaner Kit is just what your hotrod or race car needs to not only look its best, but to make more power too! This heavy-gauge spun aluminum air cleaner assembly features a single smooth radius for the airflow path, reducing airflow restrictions and turbulence commonly seen in typical “drop base” style air cleaners. These drop base air cleaners require the airflow to change direction twice as the incoming air moves up and over the drop base’s inner “bulge” for the air to reach your carburetor or throttle body. With our flat base air cleaner there are no restrictions, allowing increased airflow, which in turn makes more power! We’ve seen up to a 12 horsepower increase using this flat base air cleaner versus the traditional drop base unit. Further benefits of the flat base design include reduction in air inlet temperatures since the flat base pushes the filter media upwards into the air stream above the hood, moving the air cleaner out of the hot engine bay.

With a cleanable and reusable filter available in 3, 4, 5, or 6-inch heights, you can choose the exact filter height to optimize your engine’s airflow needs and hood height. A honeycomb mesh screen on the filter stabilizes the filter media and prevents large debris from damaging the filter media. Included with the Speedway Motors 14-inch Flat Base Air Cleaner Kit is a 1/2-inch tall Sure Seal billet aluminum air cleaner spacer. The spacer incorporates a rubber O-ring for a positive seal to the base of the air cleaner (don’t forget that carburetor or throttle body gasket too!).
