Speedway Motors 2401195 Details

Keep the air entering your engine clean with our chrome plated steel air cleaners. They feature a recessed base and have a 10 in. diameter.  These air cleaners have a chrome plated steel housing with a paper filter element.

10 Inch Chrome Air Cleaner - 2 BBL Carb

  • Chrome plated steel
  • 10" diameter and 2" tall filter element
  • 3/4" carb adapter to bottom of air cleaner base plate
  • Fits 2 barrel carbs with 2-5/8" neck
  • Includes stud and wing nut

For race/ off road use or for use on pre-1966 vehicles.

Emissions warning: this part only legal for sale or use in California for racing (competition) vehicles which may never be used, registered, or licensed for use upon a public highway, or if installed in vehicles model-year 1965 or older; motorcycles model-year 1977 or older; or off-highway recreational vehicles (such as off-road motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles) model-year 1996 and older. Any other use renders the vehicle tampered and not legal for use on California public highways (any public street or roadway, public dirt road, public park, or publicly maintained right of way open to the use of the public for vehicular travel). I would probably not buy this item again

I bought this as a replacement for the factory stock air cleaner on my 1970 C10 equipped with a 250 CID inline six. After 55 years, the original air cleaner is looking pretty sad. The engine is equipped with a Rochester Monojet one barrel carburetor with the 2 5/8 inch diameter base that the air cleaner sits on. The new air cleaner fits well under the hood and the included plastic adaptor works fine as well. My problem is with the stud that attaches the air cleaner to the carburetor. The stud on carburetor is too short, and due to the configuration of the carburetor (1 barrel), the longer stud that came with the air cleaner won't work. So I am trying to figure out what to do. The air cleaner itself is not the problem. The problem is having an unusual engine/carburetor that people don't make parts for. (And no, I'm not going to swap it for an LS.)

Rise too short for my application

It might be useful if Speedway posted the height of the rise. This was about 1/2" too short to clear a valve on top of my Carter BBD carb. Guess I'll have to cut up a soup can and make a spacer. Could have saved $20 and just used my old 1bbl. air cleaner then.

This air cleaner is going on a 1979 Camaro that was all original when I bought it. It needed upgrading. This air cleaner is a perfect addition to the mild upgrade this car needed. I don't go for overly flashy stuff. I'm just old school with my cars, so this fits that perfectly.

Because the HEI cap is so big, a 10" air cleaner clears it by about 3/4". Bigger one wouldn't work at all.
