Works well for roll cages and such, But.

By JStricker from Russell, KS on 11/7/2010
Pros:
Heavy duty, Well finished, Well Made
Cons:
Difficult to size bend, Safety Cable Broke
Best Uses:
Roll cages and roll bars
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is about what I expected it to be from Speedway. Very well made and heavy duty. It costs a bit more than competitors but I've seen the lower priced units and they don't compare in materials or construction. I have two issues with mine. The first was minor, the safety cable that goes inside the spring broke while I was installing it. Not a good design. I reworked something different and it's not a big deal. I find it very hard to measure and tell where my bends are going to end up. You are best leaving long tails and then cutting to fit for precise work, sometimes you can't do that, though, as in the case of bending a halo. Tubing is too expensive to make a mistake on when bending. I do find I'm getting better at judging this the more I use the machine. All in all, it's well worth the money and will last most people a lifetime.

Q:

It states that the bender can do 1.75" in mild steel up to .134" wall thickness and .096" Chrome-moly. What about 1020 DOM tubing? Can it bend 1.75" OD 1020 DOM Round tubing?
