Cool Your Ride with Our Universal Under-Dash Air Conditioner

We may try to rationalize why we don’t have air conditioning in our hot rod, classic truck, or even our muscle cars by saying things like it robs horsepower, or air conditioning is for wimps. But let’s face it, air conditioning your ride will make it a much more comfortable summer cruiser and you may just get your significant other to ride with you. Afterall, no one wants to show up at the cruise in soaked to the bone from the ride in your “hot” rod with no A/C. And while vent windows and cowl air vents help when your ride is moving, they don’t do anything in stopped traffic or if it is raining, so adding a universal A/C system under your dash is a quick and straightforward way to cool your cabin and make your passengers happy.

Perfect For Applications Not Served by Direct Fit A/C Conversion Kits

Our universal under-dash A/C kit is perfect for those who have a vintage or unique ride that isn’t typically served by a complete retrofit A/C system. Or perhaps you’re working with a tight budget and piecing together your A/C system and only need the basics. Our under-dash A/C unit is simply that, the basics. The black ABS plastic housing measures 17.50 inches wide by 13 inches deep and just 6.625 inches tall, which encases the evaporator unit, and the twin scroll three speed fan motor. The front mounted 2 inch by 4 inch positional vents provide user control of airflow direction. The remote mounted temperature and fan speed controls have a 24 inch harness length, allowing positioning where convenient to the driver (or flush mount the controls into your dash!).

Being an evaporator only system, you will need to source the remainder of your A/C system components separately. This allows you to build the perfect system for your ride and your budget. This is especially helpful for those with LS or other modern engine swaps where you may be using the OEM A/C compressor or an aftermarket serpentine accessory drive kit with A/C compressor included. Besides the compressor and accessory drive you’ll also need an A/C condenser (either direct fit or universal, depending upon your ride), a receiver-drier and an A/C hose kit to plumb the system. Lastly, if you plan to run an electric cooling fan, you will want to upgrade the binary pressure switch included with your receiver-drier to a trinary switch with fan output signal.

Nice small unit. Fit my car nicely. Used to have an old Thermo king that leaked freon. One thing I did on this was pull out the front mesh filter. It has 2 filters and I think thats overkill. After I took out the metal mesh filter it was quiter and blows more air. All you have to do is remove the front panel. There is a foam filter in there too but I left it there.

Great product would buy again if I need it

Its hard to tell in the video, but how is the hot air evacuated from the cabin? The "ducting kit" seems like a small diameter hose. Do I need to plumb the hot air out to an existing vent?
