A bolt-in Adjustable Transmission Mounting Solution for Your GM G-Body

While the engine swap seems to get all the love and focus of our project dollars, you can’t forget about what’s going to bolt up to that new engine and sit in the tunnel next to you. Even if you’re going to keep the stock transmission, many times an LS swap or other swap engine mounts create enough setback that your stock transmission cross member won’t work anymore. Even more to consider is when you drop the coin for that beefy six-speed manual or fancy electronic overdrive automatic to bolt up to your engine swap. Then you really need to start sharpening your pencil to determine correct driveline angle and how to support the transmission properly. There’s also your exhaust to consider, as going over the top of the crossmember limits your exhaust pipe diameter and routing options.

Gone are the days of spending hours cutting up a stock crossmember, massaging it with a grinder and a welder to make some crude affair to get you close. Forget all that and simply use our ingenious bolt-in steel GM G-body transmission crossmember for 1978-1988 GM G-body vehicles! We’ve designed this GM G-body crossmember to be an adjustable transmission crossmember to support most any GM-based automatic or manual transmission yet be a complete stress free bolt-in solution that will have your transmission properly supported and secured at the correct driveline angle in no time with plenty of clearance for performance sized exhaust tubing. So, whether you need a G-body 4L60E crossmember or a T56 crossmember, our adjustable transmission crossmember can support your transmission of choice in your Monte Carlo, Regal, Grand Prix, or Cutlass.

Support Just About Any GM Transmission with Our Bolt-in Crossmember

Our GM G-body transmission crossmember is built using 10 gauge steel that is laser cut and fully welded for strength and powder coated black for great, long lasting looks. The main G-body crossmember bolts to existing frame holes on your GM G-body with only two additional 3/8-inch bolt holes required to be added to your frame. The G-body crossmember mounting brackets are slotted, allowing for up to 7.50 inches of front-to-rear adjustment of the 78-88 GM G-body transmission crossmember as well as to line up with your transmission’s tailshaft mounting pad/trans mount. This provides a bolt-in adjustable transmission crossmember mounting solution for nearly any transmission application you can think of. Additionally, the adjustable transmission mount surface is slotted 2.50 inches as well, providing additional flexibility to fitting standard dual bolt/stud GM-spec transmission mounts with 1.50-inch center-to-center spacing. The mount surface itself is also vertically adjustable up to one half inch in height within the main crossmember.

Premium 3/8-24 mounting hardware is included to install the crossmember with locknuts and washers to ensure your final mounting location stays where you put it. Our fabricated GM G-body dual exhaust crossmember provides generous room for the routing of up to 3-inch exhaust tubing tucked up nice and close for your exhaust installation to provide plenty of exhale ability for your G-body’s engine no matter how low your ride sits. The generous exhaust clearance cuts in the crossmember mean you no longer having to try and route your exhaust up and over the transmission cross member in the limited space between the crossmember and your floorpan or have your exhaust pipes run low below your transmission crossmembers, affecting overall ride height and having you sweating bullets at the sight of a speed bump.
