Sourcing certain components for your project vehicle can be frustrating at times. You've got a new transmission, torque converter, cooler and shifter but now you discover that your dipstick is damaged, or even worse, missing altogether. For your convenience, TCI offers a wide variety of quality dipsticks. Applications for the most popular Chrysler, Ford and GM transmissions are available. Each dipstick features a locking stick which satisfies sanctioning bodies' racing rules. The rubber boot seal is a vast improvement over the small o-ring typically used on older OEM tube designs.

TCI Automotive provides a limited warranty covering manufacturing defects for 30 days on racing equipment and 90 days on street/strip equipment, valid only for the original purchaser with proof of purchase. Approved transmission fluid and cooler flush products are required, and claims must be authorized through Edelbrock Group Tech Support. The warranty excludes modified, improperly installed or maintained, abused, accident‑damaged, improperly cooled, or unauthorized repaired products.

It's Better Than Nothing

Doing an LS swap into a 1980 Camaro, the last thing I expected to be hard to find was a dipstick and dipstick tube for the 4 speed automatic transmission - but it was. The best I could do was this TCI unit. Here's the problem - the tube isn't bent right, so it goes into the 4L70E transmission at the wrong angle (see photos). Also, requiring an extra bracket to attach to an LS engine is kludgy. TCI or someone else needs to make a dipstick tube that closely follows the shape of the 4L60E bellhousing and that bolts directly to an LS engine. This is a common swap and therefore there's plenty of demand for it.

The dipstick tube was accurate to the correct bend and fit very well. The only noticeable thing was the spot welds holding on the bracket were weak but luckily once it was bolted in place it seemed strong enough to hold.
