Overall Assessment

The product's outstanding qualities include its excellent fit, usability, durability and the ease of modifying it to suit specific needs. With an impeccable build and defined features, it has proven to work perfectly for different car models. Several users praised the product, emphasizing the considerable advantage it offers in comparison to other brands, which suffer from inconsistencies. The superior material quality contributes to its sturdiness and longevity, making it an integral part of hot rod builds. The only complaint noted was about the wiggle, however, this issue was not prevalent and the product was generally deemed as of quality, practical and reliable.

Just as ordered

My item is just as described from speedway The shipping was fast and service is what I expect, that is the reason I continue to buy from Speedway. The steering shaft is a bit pricey but if you need it and you need it now, you have to pay. Everyone else is charging the same price

Too loose

I bought this 22" DD shaft along with a Heim joint and a steering u-joint. The shaft fits too loosely for my taste. It's just as loose in the steering column hole. I had a couple of long pieces of 3/4" round bars that were just a tiny bit larger so I cut it down and made the DD ends. They fit perfectly with no wiggle whatsoever. I also had a section of a DD shaft that came off an older Ford p/u. It also fit snugly into the u-joint. I think this Speedway shaft should be made a little bigger. It's okay if you don't mind the wiggle. I'll just toss mine over to the "spare parts" section of the shop. I think this part is overpriced for what it is. Speedway has lots of good stuff but this isn't one of them.

Questions & Answers

2 Questions6 Answers

Is the end of the shaft that is drilled and tapped for the 5/16" bolt also machined to accommodate a steering wheel boss? My existing shaft has 2 flat areas machined into the end of the 3/4" round shaft with approximately .057" removed from the top of the shaft and .057" removed from the bottom of the shaft. These flat areas extend approximately .75" from the end of the shaft where the 5/16" bolt hole is drilled and tapped. I'm ready to order this shaft immediately, if it meets my needs. Your prompt attention to this email is appreciated. Thanks.
