I'm building a '67 Fastback on a '22 Mach 1 chassis and wanted a unique fill cap. The 5" Le Mans style has been tried and true on sooooooo many builds. Keeping in tune with that but yet differentiating at the same time this cap fit the bill for me.

Can this cap assembly be directly mounted to a flat top metal fuel tank? Will the rubber seal deteriorate because of the fuel. I just want to make sure this would make a solid seal to the tank. If this won't work what are my other options for a small filler neck and cap... preferably a gasket and bolted connection but a weld in might be the other alternative.

Does the cap vent seal if the car turns over? Vents 458400 and 458364 emphasize self-sealing when overturned. I'd rather use an integral cap and vent because my project is 85% street use focused. On the off chance I roll, what should I expect?
