Overall Assessment

The product has received an overall positive response from customers for its quality, fit, and aesthetics; adding a finished touch to many classic cars. It consistently works well with support rods and represents a good value for the price. Some users did experience threading issues and suggested using a tap and anti-seize to alleviate the problem. Several customers appreciated the fact that it adds flexibility and improves the look of their cars. Critics note poor quality in some cases, with few mentioning stripped thread issues, but most couldn't deny the significant improvement in appearance it brings to their vehicles. Recommend as a valuable and practical car enhancement part.

Looks good. But needed some work

I thought I would give these a try even though of some complaints about the threads. I removed the nuts that came on the support rods. I put anti seize on the threads and tried to thread on the covers. They would only go on about 3 turns and get tight. I had to chase all the threads with a tap. You could tell that the tap was cleaning the threads and shavings on the tap when extracted. You will need a 3/8 and 5/16 N.F tap. Use plenty of anti seize while tapping. Now they pretty much spin on by hand. 4 stars, you shouldn't have to fix something that is new.

Radiator Support Rod Thread Covers

I've used Speedway Motors for years,I've never had so much trouble with anything from you guys like these things. If I hadn't tried these on a weekend, you'd have gotten them back!VERY DISAPOINTED.I had so much time trying to get them to thread on and off.

These covers do exactly what they were designed to do. They completely cover the support rods threads. They give the support rods a sleek, clean look.

Parts fit good. It would be nice if it was recommended to use anti-seize as the parts are stainless steel.

Why are there two different thread sizes? Isn't the whole support rod 3/8"? Why the 5/16" thread? Don't these fit over the ends of a 3/8" stainless rod?
