Overall Assessment

Customers appreciate the product for its performance, practicality, and solid construction. Many users describe it as an essential tool for assignments, specifically engine builds, that assists in grinding rings efficiently and accurately. Its fast and clean cut through material sets it apart from hand file tools. Some users suggest practicing on old rings to get a proper handle of the grinding procedure. Remarks on its sturdy, metal build and diamond wheel underline its superior build quality over competitors. Its easiness to use and mount stands out, and versatility in the application was praised by customers. However, some critiques are made about the price, regarded by a few as expensive. Despite this, it's seen as a durable, reliable tool that gets jobs done effectively.

Very pleased

Very pleased with this product. Durable and diamond disc grinds fast. There's really nothing to tear up. Doesn't grind the oil spacer ring fast. I just used a regular grinder on the oil spacer rings. Perfect for compression rings. Just took some vice grips and clamped it to the table instead of bolting it to the table. When finished remove the vice grips. How simple is that? Doesn't take up space. Just remove and store it until next time.

Looks like it'll hold up. Too expensive.

This is a good "cheap" ring filer. The sad part is the price has almost doubled over the past 10 years on this type of filer. This thing is way too expensive for what it is. To be honest my first thought was "did I just pay that much money for that". It's aluminum and an abrasive wheel, come on. Sick of people gouging their customers.

My only issue is I haven't yet had the opportunity to use this yet. I've finally chased down all the parts for my wife's New Beetle so I will be using the ring grinder shortly on my 1st of many projects.

Have to make sure rings is perpendicular to the grinding wheel. It is easy to have the ring slightly offset.

I know that this is a cheaper version but it needs to have preset increments on it to be more precise and to handle needs to have some kind of roller on it

I bought this for use on an antique car with thicker than normal rings. It's a bit clumsy so I suggest you practice on your old rings and get used to it, it removes the material quickly and this will keep you from getting too large a gap. Otherwise it is a good tool for the price.

Should be firmly mounted, no other "quirks". Cuts fast enough that an electric unit probably offers no real advantage to justify the higher price. Cutting disk provided lasted 1 engine with no loss of efectiveness, should last for several. All-in-all a good product.
