The great thing about Ford’s venerable 9-inch axle assembly is the proliferation of gear ratio and differential options. You can easily change gear ratios to match a given road course length or engine power level simply by dropping the “pumpkin” out of the axle housing. Many racers will have fully built spare center sections with varying gear ratios, or to swap from a drag spool to a true differential for street use. These 9-inch 3rd members require safe storage to prevent ingestion of dirt and debris that can damage bearings or gear teeth and many traditional Ford 9-inch carrier storage methods have been large plastic boxes that store the 9-inch third member in a standard horizontal configuration (as if it was mounted in the axle housing). Our vertical load storage case places the 9-inch center upright, allowing gear oil to drain away from the housing flange, and taking up much less storage room in your shop or trailer.

Using high-density polyethylene plastic, our vertical storage case is light, yet is strong enough to support the weight of a fully loaded 9-inch center section. The rotomolding process ensures that the Ford 9-inch case storage base and lid’s material thickness is uniform throughout, with no thin spots that could lead to leaks or punctures. Molded in metal thread inserts provide the ability to bolt your center section into the recessed mounting lip in the base for security, as well as bolt the lid on to the Ford 9-inch case base to keep dirt out. Molded carry handles provide a stable way to carry your stored 9-inch third member, while the recessed bottom of the Ford 9-inch carrier mates with the lid’s profile, providing a secure way to lock multiple storage cases together when stacking. While designed for the factory Ford 9-inch, our vertical storage case can fit many other removable carrier style center housings, including aftermarket 9-inch and Ford 8-inch housings as well.
