Speedway Motors 91016259 Details

This oil pump pick-up is a reproduction of those used in F-Series trucks. They are designed to be direct replacements in 1932-47 car oil pans and 1932-53 truck oil pans ONLY. When used on 1932-1948 Flatheads, installation of a newer style (1949-1953) oil pump like our Speedway and Melling pump is required.

Note: May require slight modification when used with high volume oil pumps.

Note: If used with 1949-53 Flathead Ford V8s, considerable modification to the oil pan will be necessary to work.  1949-53 Flatheads will require a "car" style oil pump pickup for a direct replacement version.

Quality product but needed some fine tuning..........

Needed adjusting by carefully heating and bending the tube to get the pickup closer and parallel to the bottom of the pan. Out of the box there was 1 1/2" clearance between the pickup and the pan and was not parallel. Original pickup is 3/8" to 1/2" from bottom of pan.

Not a good fit

I used this pickup with a stock '51 car oil pan and a high-volume pump. I needed to heat and hammer a huge lump into my oil pan for this pickup to fit, and I'm still concerned that it will sit too high in the pan and might starve for oil. Screen is not included and is extra.

I purchased the pickup tube to use on my 59AB motor which is getting an 8BA pump. First thing I noticed was the amount of grit in the paint (not sure why its painted?) other than to cover up the rusty metal. So I gave it a thorough cleaning in the sand blast cabinet to remove that paint and rust. Now to check the fit - no way would it fit in my stock oil pan. The angle was all wrong in relation to the inside bottom of the pan. I ended up cutting of the flange that mounts to the pump and after and bit of fixture work, reapplied the silver braze to the tube and flange. Now it fits as required and doesn't have gritty paint that can come off in my clean motor. I would only recommend this to somebody that has fabrication skills or access to somebody that does. You've been warned.
