Installation Tips

Wiring Instructions:

Black Wire (Ground – Battery Negative):
- Connect the black wire securely to the chassis ground.
- Utilize a solid connection point on the vehicle's frame or chassis to ensure proper grounding.
Red Wire (Clock Constant Power + Battery Positive):
- Connect the red wire to a constant 12V DC power source.
- It's essential to maintain continuous power to the clock; otherwise, the clock functionality will cease when the vehicle is turned off. Take note that prolonged periods without starting the vehicle may lead to battery drain.
Green Wire (Backlight Switched Power + Battery Positive):
- Connect the green wire to the same circuit as other 12V DC dash lighting connections or a switched 12V DC power source.
- Ensure the selected power source deactivates when the vehicle is turned off, specifically for the backlight. This ensures that the light turns off along with the vehicle to prevent unnecessary power consumption.

Overall Assessment

Customers are generally satisfied with the product, praising its classic, nice look and practicality, especially in vintage car models. A common highlight is the smooth fit in various car dashes and the addition of an "old school" style. While the product matches other gauges well, some buyers updated the wiring for efficiency. Some customers noted the absence of a second hand and detailed wiring instructions as downsides. However, the quality and aesthetic appeal of the product had customers recommending it over competitors.

Great match for the guages

This was a perfect compliment to the guage package we purchased for our El Camino. It was simple to wire into the factory harness. I was disappointed that there was no second hand or instructions for wiring. I was able to go to Speedway's website and easily find the wiring instructions.

$35.00 clock

The product looked good and fit the dash in my 1968 Chev. First problem was the wiring - it was too small for striping tool. I could record current outside of wire and to connect I had to use a larger wire to add space. It worked for 5 days and quit. Do not recommend.

Really nice clock, well built with metal chrome ring. It has a nice warm white LED backlight however it would be nice if that was replaceable.
