The Speedway 11-Inch Disc Brake Conversion Kit is a comprehensive upgrade package specifically designed for 1954-56 Ford cars, delivering modern braking performance with ease of installation. At the core of the kit are newly manufactured IMCA-approved GM Metric disc brake calipers, which feature a low-drag piston seal to slightly retract the brake pads for improved fuel efficiency and pad longevity. The calipers accept 7/16-20 SAE fluid inlets—offering wide compatibility with aftermarket hoses—and use standard FMSI D154 brake pads, eliminating the hassle of core charges or rebuilds. The calipers are designed for 1-inch thick rotors but can fit .810-inch rotors with included spacers, and they use a common 5-1/2-inch bolt spacing for versatile fitment.
The kit also includes Speedway's soft compound brake pads, which are engineered for reliability and quiet operation with corrosion-resistant backing plates and OE-style multi-layer shims. The included caliper slide bolts are upgraded one-piece designs that eliminate the need for the factory sleeve, offering a cleaner, more durable solution with a 7/16-20 thread and 4-3/8-inch overall length. For plumbing, brake hoses are included to accommodate 1955–1974 GM disc brake conversions and are designed to fit the 7/16”-20 calipers.
Additional components such as rotors, brackets, and mounting hardware ensure everything is aligned and securely installed, with specific kits covering Thunderbird-style brackets and necessary fasteners. This kit transforms the outdated drum brake setup into a modern disc brake system using widely available, proven parts—offering enhanced safety, better braking feel, and ease of serviceability for classic Ford enthusiasts.

This kit includes everything you need to convert to disc brakes. I installed the kit on a 57 Tbird. Installation was easy and no modifications needed. Be sure you have at least 15 inch wheels.

I have not had a chance to install it yet due to replacing all the bushings in the control arms. When I do install them it does look pretty straight forward and I have read the instructions so it should go fairly smoothly.

This product was installed on my '55 Fairlane. I was shorted a caliper bolt (a replacement was quickly sent) and was sent two right calipers (which took over two weeks to receive the correct caliper...see my review of the caliper for my thoughts on Speedway's return policy). I also had to talk with tech service since some of the part numbers referenced in the included instructions were obsolete, but they were able to clear that up in a reasonable amount of time.
