Installation Tips

How to index spark plugs:

Purchase 1 spark plug for each cylinder.
Inspect the spark plugs for any damage, i.e. cracked or broken porcelain.
Gap the spark plug to your specifications.
Compress the factory washer to a minimum of 30 ft. lbs. of torque. You don't want it to compress further once you have added your shims and installed the spark plug in the cylinder head. An indexing nut or a steel block with proper threads works well for this - it will save wear and tear on your cylinder head threads.
Mark the location of the ground on the surface of the white porcelain with a black marker.
Thread the spark plug into the cylinder head and tighten to manufacturer's specs. If you don't know the manufacturer's torque specs, use 20 ft. lbs.
Utilizing the provided dial chart included in the kit, have the arrow point in the same direction as the spark plug ground mark.
Look at the chart to determine shims required to locate the ground at your desired angle.
Thread the required shims onto the spark plug and install the plug into the head.
Tighten the spark plug to the same manufacturer's specs used earlier (again, iif you don't know, use 20 ft. lbs.).
