Easily Add Self-Cancelling Turn Signals to Your Hot Rod
Designed in house by our team of hot rodders, our new self-canceling turn signal kit is the perfect answer if you are using one of Speedway Motors’ Nostalgia or Hot Rod fixed body steering columns. Skip the unsightly clamp-on units that always seem to be in the way (or that toggle switch on the dash that everyone forgets to turn off after a turn) and update your ride with our new self-cancelling turn signal retrofit kit designed specifically for these columns.
NOTE - This switch is designed for vehicles with separate rear turn signal lamps. To use taillights that combine the stop and turn signal features, you'll need a Trailer Taillight Conversion module for proper functionality and seamless integration. This part is not available at Speedway Motors, but can be soured at a local trailer supply, camping, home improvement store, or some other auto parts stores.
Works With Factory or Aftermarket Wiring Harnesses
Installation requires trimming one inch off the top of the steering column tube and drilling/tapping two mounting holes on the underside of the trimmed column tube. Once these modifications are made the turn signal assembly bolts on to your column and accepts your column’s original steering wheel.
Wiring is simple and can be adapted to original turn signal wiring or an aftermarket wiring harness with ease. The switch’s wiring includes left and right turn signal output (must be split for front and rear signals), turn signal flasher input, ground, turn signal dash indicator, and a secondary ground for the optional momentary switch in the end of the turn signal level. The turn signal switch does not have provisions for hazard flashers or brake light pass through, so your turn signals and brake lights must be on different circuits/lamps at the rear of your hot rod.

Customers appreciate the product's problem-solving element, but recommend a cover for the gap between the steering wheel for enhanced usability. While the installation process is generally easy, some found that additional machining was required, indicating a potential point for material quality improvement. Customers lament a lack of compatibility with certain harnesses and lack of integrated stop lights, posing issues to its safety feature. Moreover, its inability to accommodate original steering wheels affects its practicality. Nevertheless, customers praised its aesthetic appeal and the unique self-canceling turn signal feature.

It would be great if there was a cover for the gap between the steering wheel and top of turn signal. I am using the high beam switch for my horn.

I had this totally installed and went to wire it my existing harness only to find out it was not compatible unless you have a separate light circuit as per the very last line in the description on the web site no where in the included instructions is that stated. However they did accept the return for a small fee.

Install was pretty easy. After cutting tube realized inside needed to be machined with a metal lathe in order to reinstall the bearing. Not a big deal but worth mentioning. Love the look.

The hobby has needed a good aftermarket self-canceling turn signal switch. It is too bad that this one falls short. Not integrating the stop lights is a show stopper for most applications. How many hot rods use multiple tail lights on each side? Not having 4-way flashers is a lesser problem, but still a major flaw. The literature says use your original steering wheel??? It sure looks like the switch will only self-cancel with the supplied hub. That hub is for a 3-bolt aftermarket wheel, so an OEM wheel can't be used. It would be nice if....
