Keep Your SBC Engine Cool with Our Easy to Install Electric Fan Relay Kit
Short of a few industrial applications, just about every modern vehicle on the road today uses an electric cooling fan setup. From full size trucks down to the smallest of commuter cars, electric cooling fans help with packaging, efficiency, and obviously cooling. For several decades now most enthusiasts have seen the benefits of converting from a belt driven cooling fan to an electric cooling fan but often struggle with how to wire it properly and how to activate it. We have seen all manners of undersized cooling fan relay switch wiring with no fuse anywhere in the circuit or even no relay in use at all. Relying on yourself to flip a manual toggle switch when the temp gauge goes into the red zone is also no way to enjoy cruising in your ride. Using a high output relay with properly sized wiring and a temperature switch is the best way to have your small block Chevy’s electric fan(s) operating properly and our SBC specific electric fan relay kit takes all the fear and guesswork out of the project.
Capable of Powering the Most Demanding Electric Fans
Starting with our heavy-duty 40-amp relay you’ll find a molded relay connector for easy plug-in connection for secure electrical contact, along with a metal mounting tab for mounting the relay in your engine compartment. This 40-amp dual fan relay kit has been evaluated to ensure it can run a dual fan arrangement while maintaining current loads within specs. The included wiring harness features properly sized wiring to manage your fan’s start up and running amperage needs. Along with an inline fuse holder we include industry standard T-shaped fan wiring connectors, and all the crimp terminals you need to make solid, long-lasting connections.
The final piece of our small block Chevy radiator fan relay wiring kit is the threaded brass temperature switch. Like most dual fan relay kit options on the market, we use a standard 3/8-inch NPT thread temperature switch and include a 1/2-inch NPT adapter bushing to provide installation options depending upon your cooling system and cylinder heads used on your SBC V8 engine. The all-brass temperature switch is available in two temperature settings; pre-set to turn your fan(s) on at either 185 degrees F or 195 degrees F (±5). We recommend the 185-degree switch for hotter climates and high-performance applications, whereas the 195-degree switch more closely aligns with factory temperature ranges.
The switches are designed to allow for 20 degree drops in temperature before shutting the fan(s) off (165 and 175 respectively). This ensures that your small block Chevy operates in the optimal temperature window that you desire. We’ve included full installation instructions with multiple wiring diagram options to ensure your small block Chevy is properly cooled, be it carbureted, aftermarket EFI, or OEM EFI system in use. Grab one of our SBC radiator fan relay kits today and make your next ride worry free knowing your small block Chevy is running cool and at the proper temperature!
