Details

If you like traditional looks and reliable, modern performance, you’ll love this cool Flathead alternator. It has the look of an original generator, but is really a 6-volt, positive-ground alternator that produces 50 amps at idle and 55 amps going down the road. This 1-wire alternator is designed to fit 1949-1953 Ford & Mercury Cars and 1948-1953 Ford Trucks with Flathead V8s and features a simple one-wire hookup.

We offer it in black painted or polished aluminum, and both include stock-appearing mounting brackets (the stock fan carrier bolts to that bracket) and pulleys that accept wide 5/8” belts.

Do not send the unit back to Speedway Motors unless you have called Powermaster and talked to their Tech Department while the unit was still on the vehicle so they could help you troubleshoot the problem.

This was a no-brainer upgrade to my stock '51 flathead generator. It puts our more amps than the generator ever could, on a consistent basis. My lights are brighter for sure. the car seems to run better, perhaps due to a better spark. Plus, it looks period correct. The install was easy and straightforward. I am very happy with this upgrade.

I replaced the original generator on my 1950 Ford F1 pickup truck with this new alternator. Keeps my battery charged even at low rpm's. Looks like original. The mounting bracket fit well. It was very easy to wire up. I just used the original yellow/black wire that went from the generator to truck regulator and connected it to the yellow wire that is connected to the negative side of the battery. Put a ground wire onto the alternator housing and then taped off unused wires. It works great.

Great product, easy to install. The only con is that it comes with a 5/8" pulley so we mist purchase a second pulley if we have a 3/8 or 1/2 . Should be able to order with correct pulley and not have to remove and discard the 5/8

I already purchased this Alternator. I would like to install two small studs on the case to connect the FIELD and Arm leads which are no longer used. Make it look like a correct generator. How do i do this without harming the Alternator??

Altenater Details Will this bolt up without any modifications? I have an original truck and do not want to alter anything to make it fit. Does it include everything i need to bolt up ? Can i use existing belt ? What would i need to do to get original amp guage to work with this altenater or will it render guage useless? Thanks for your help.
