Overall Assessment

Customers highly praise the product for its practicality, usability, and quality material. Many laud it as an essential tool for engine builders as it simplifies piston installation, reducing time and guesswork significantly. While some users encountered machining burrs, they managed to polish them out without damaging the product's effectiveness. The product is highly recommended over competitors for its durability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of use. However, customers suggest engraving the size for ease of identification. Irrespective of a few minor enhancements, customers express a high likelihood of repurchase and recommendation to peers, valuing it as superior in the market.

After some polishing on the inside surface, it worked great

It arrived quickly and was about 1/3 the cost of a similar ARP one. I needed one for a 4.055" bore and this one at 4.060" bore fit the bill. One bad thing that I didn't catch right off hand was there were some machining burrs on the inside, which caused the oil rings to hang up and break. I broke 2 oil rings before I actually noticed what was causing it. I polished out the burrs with some super fine sandpaper and then buffed it with some compound. That smoothed out the spots and the pistons went in with very little effort. I wish I had looked it over better before starting but that was my fault. 2 extra sets of rings delayed my job by almost a week and cost me $100. Oh well, live, and learn. I would definitely buy again but would check the bore for smoothness BEFORE starting!

Quality control not good

This compressor had six nicks and one half inch scratch in the lower part of the bore, most of the bottom edge had a rough lip on the inside. All of which would damage the rings while being installed. A little buffing and now its all good but the blue coating looks bad. I would have sent it back if I didn't need build this motor quickly.

If you are still using the traditional spring steel wrap around band type compressor, do yourself a favor... Buy one of these. This is a great solution to piston installation problems. Simply clock your rings, dip piston in your choice of lubricant, start piston into compressor, start into cylinder, push piston into cylinder, done! Very simple design, great results... Saves so much time and guess work.
