I actually bought the Cutter as gift. My friend has been cutting filters with a hammer and chisel for several years, on his plane and hot street machine. Inspecting the filter element will tell you a lot about your engines condition. I like Longacre products because they were built by professional racers. Their stuff works.

Took me less than a minute to cut open the oil filter. Tightening the tool as you rotate. Just remember not to over tighten as you rotate, let the tool do the work and you will be happy with your purchase.

The product worked exactly as advertised. I did need to drill a 7/8 inch hole in the middle to use on my aircraft oil filter. Aircraft filters are larger and have a large 1" threaded 'screw' that you use to attach to aircraft. This is taller than the automotive variety. Net, I simply drilled a hole in the middle of the tool so that could pass through. Once done, the cutter worked first try and SUPER easy.
