You can't shorten a steering link without these taps.

With major modifications to a 1959 F100, I needed to cut the steering link down 7". With this set of taps I was able to clean up the threads on one end and cut new threads in the other. I assumed I would be able to purchase these locally but none of the parts store nor the industrial suppliers carried this size. If you're going to replace the tie rod ends it's a good idea to have these taps to clean the threads.
