Gates Vulco-Flex II radiator hoses include an interanl spiral wire which prevents collapsing and kinking. The spiral wire is retained within a groove on the inside of the hose.

Hose is extremely stiff for being a "flexible" hose! Too much pressure on radiator connection. Could well break the solder joints. Tossed hose in my spare parts (junk) bin and purchased a MORE FLEXIBLE hose from a local speed shop.
