A Replica of The OEM Stamped Steel Metric Lower Control Arm
Beginning with dimensional data from original factory G-Body control arms, our stamping is identical in material type, thickness, and all critical dimensions for installation of OEM-spec ball joints and control arm bushings are maintained. This allows you to choose the components you feel are best for your intended usage. Boxing a lower control arm or adding custom steering stops or sway bar mounts to your Metric chassis front suspension means fabrication work and no one wants to do that on an assembled control arm and risk the chance of heat damage to a bushing or ball joint. Starting with our bare GM Metric lower control arms means you control every aspect of the control arm build for your needs.
While certainly usable for street suspension builds if you’re wanting to go a specific route for your setup, these bare GM Metric lower control arms are generally used for circle track racing classes that require a stock-type suspension and/or control arm use. For these applications racers will often start with a bare control arm and upfit to use in their racing class. Speedway Motors offers standard K6145-style ball joints in both standard and extended stud options, as well as ultra-low friction ball joints, also with extended length stud options.
When it comes to control arm bushings, again, it will be determined by application use, racing class rules, and personal preferences. The two popular options for G-Body control arms are polyurethane and steel. For polyurethane we offer the correct front and rear control arm bushings to press into your new steel control arms. If you’re looking for steel bushings we offer both Speedway Motors and AFCO brand bushings. Note that typically these aftermarket bushings use a 1/2-inch inside diameter and will require drilling out the frame mounting ears and the use of larger 1/2-inch bolts as well.
These bare steel GM Metric front lower control arms are sold individually, allowing you to only replace the left or right lower control arm that needs attention due to wear, crash damage, etc. Get your GM Metric chassis race car back in the race quickly and with the ball joints and bushings you prefer vs having to deal with tearing apart stock replacement lower A-arms already loaded with OEM rubber bushings and ball joint.
