Ok, they don’t really explode, but the back side splits into folds so you don’t normally need to use a back-up washer with them. They work great where it’s hard to reach the back side.

Bought these to use on the rebody of my S10 circle track racer. The rivets I've used before and are way better to use in place of washers behind the rivets. The 6 double ended 3/16 bits that come with the kit are junk. Save some money and just buy the box of rivets and buy a good 3/16 drill bit elsewhere. I was drilling out the aluminum rivets on my windshield. Before I finished, about 25 rivets, 2 of the bits had broken off, one of them broke on both ends. The 3rd drill bit was already dull by the time I finished.
