By attaching this washer to the side of a "Free-Rolling" wheel the wheel can now be used as the Drive wheel. Typically, a person would attach the washer to the side of the wheel opposite of the hubcap side (with either a couple of tack welds, a pop rivet or two, perhaps even some epoxy). The washer would then engage a Drive Pin (such as 91800217) that is inserted into a cross-hole in the axle shaft. Thus, when the foot pedals are pushed the axle rotates which rotates the pin (captured within the slots of the Drive Washer) and thus the wheel rotates and drives the car forward.
