Bought one along with a new flexplate in an attempt to fix a starter engagement issue. Unfortunately it didn't fix the problem. Four stars for ease of install.

I used this part to replace the chewed up pinion gear in my Speedway compact starter. The only problem I had was removing the snap ring and collar from the old pinion gear. I used a socket and hammer to knock the collar past the snap ring (there is enough clearance/ the snap ring compresses to let the collar past.) Once installed, with the proper amount of shims between block and starter (I had to add more than the instructions recommend), the part works great.

it is a good item.

I had a bit of trouble getting the old one out. I had to grind the collar off before I could get the snap ring off, and grind down the shaft before it would fit into my starter, after that it fit ok.
