  • Standard GM midsize calipers feature a large 2-3/4" bore and increased brake pad surface to help prevent brake fade

Overall Assessment

Customers highly appreciate this product for its easy installation process, practicality, and noticeable improvement in stopping performance. Emphasizing its adaptability, users highlight the perfect fit and compatibility with existing spindles. While minor adjustments may be necessary for some users, the general consensus is that the product works as designed. Its quality and affordability earn significant praise, making it a recommended choice for a drum to disc conversion. Noteworthy is the lure of the 'completeness' of the kit despite a few concerns about missing or ill-fitting elements. However, most users suggest that the added work did not detract much from their overall satisfaction with the product's performance.

Great complete kit.. everything but grease and fluid.

I had to countersink two of the holes in the plates for adequate protuding thread length for my steering arm to mount back on, and use shorter spacers on the driver's side plate. And the spindle nuts thread pitch was a little tight on the spindle. Kind of self locking. And the pound on covers were loose in the bores. I just swedged them a little to get a good fit, they're soft. But everything I get is a kit that usually has to be field for anyway ,I was impressed by the completeness and low price for such a comprehensive kit. I would recommend it to anyone with an early ford front axle... Thank you..

Many parts do not fit standard Ford spin

Lots of problems for an easy install kit! I am putting this on a stock 46 Mercury. Badly written directions The kit comes with extra parts for other apps but the directions don't tell you this. Next, once the new hub is assembled and installed, the spindle nut won't tighten enough to get a cotter key in. Need to grind down the nut about an 1/8 of an inch (weaking it) Now I am trying to attach the brake hose to the orginal ford brake line; doesn't fit...the directions say "install new brake lines" whoa, no mention of needing new brake lines except when i re-read the parts list!! at the bottom they say to order 617-8562... why not include in kit if needed? I would recommed this kit to an enemy!

Easy to install, the wheel bearing adapters will widen the wheels approx. 3/4 inch each side. The parts are heavy duty.

I had great help from Speedway Tech (Clark) who helped me with all my parts .everything worked as he suggested. I am building a 28 Ford sedan with a early Hemi and 400 GM trans. I am currently building the chassis, have used Speedway parts for years. They have always taken care of any issues. This car will be a vintage drag car!

To work with my later spindles, I had to grind a couple small areas to get the caliper bracket to sent flush. Not a big deal. Not sure why the instructions were sent separately but they showed up over a week later finally.

I have your early Ford Spindles part number #91032104. Will this kit work with those spindles? Also planning to use the wide 5 adapters #91658250. If the above is good to go any problem with these adapters with the disk brake kit?

You say these are too heavy for an early rod. I am building a 33 Ford truck, I Beam axle, 39 spindles with cast arms. Engine is 51 V8 Flathead. Is this a practical kit or would you use something else?

I am wanting to install this kit on a '40 Ford that has a dropped stock axle & stock spindles with dropped steering arms, will it fit? Also I read in a review dated Dec. 14, 2012 that the stock spindle nut does not fit correctly, how has this problem been resolved? Are the calipers and disc new or rebuilt? Thanks, JT
