As an experienced hot rod builder, I have learned to always assemble my own engines, because sometimes a professional builder can feel rushed and make a mistake, that you will pay for. I always mic the crank journals after machining, and even though the crank and rod bearings are normally very precise, I always pre-assemble my motors and check bearing clearanceas with Plastigage.
