A Compact Serpentine Drive Solution for Your Budget LS Swap
For the most part LS swaps are a trouble free affair, which is why they are so popular. That said, where we often see people run into issues is in classic car swaps where the frame/front subframe’s engine crossmember and steering gear box interfere with the LS engine’s factory low mounting location for the air conditioning compressor and power steering pump. Speedway Motors has developed a new wallet friendly LS accessory drive kit to solve this issue.
Our Bill’s Hot Rod Co. 1100 Series LS accessory drive kit includes an alternator bracket and power steering pump bracket, and air conditioning bracket that solves these issues. These LS simple brackets relocate the accessories to a higher, outside position on the engine, but well below the hood line of most vehicles. This frees up the lower sides of the engine block for mounting clearance into the chassis of your classic car, allowing the stock frame/engine crossmember to work with nothing more than motor mount adapters or swap mounts.
Pre-Assembled Steel Brackets Are Strong and Easy to Install
The combination alternator/power steering pump LS accessory brackets are designed to use LS alternators from 1998-2002 Camaro/Firebird, 2000-2015 GM truck, Cadillac CTS-V LS6/LS2, and 2010-2015 Camaro applications. For applicable power steering pumps simply source from 1998-2002 4th Gen Camaro/Firebird (GM 26086074) along with the proper GM pulley (GM 12559885). The LS accessory drive kit system works with the short Corvette water pump (GM 89018052), mid-length “wide pulley” 4th Gen Camaro water pump (GM 19256263), or long truck length water pump (GM 19207665). This truck length water pump can be sourced from a LS3/L99 5th Gen Camaro application. It is the same length as a truck water pump with a driver’s side upper radiator hose connection. These LS simple brackets come completely assembled with all stainless steel bolts and washers, illustrated instruction sheet, and belt size recommendations.
The included A/C compressor bracket is designed to mount aftermarket Sanden SD-508 compressors onto Gen 3/Gen 4 GM LS engines (non-supercharged). It works with all water pump applications noted previously above. Note that an additional spacer kit may be required to work with certain accessory combinations, such as the LS3 accessory drive (depending on what vehicle your engine’s accessories came from).
