Unlike a metal handle that required sanding and buffing, and then plating to provide a finished product, the plastic parts are nearly installation ready right out of the mold. However, the plastic handles soon showed their weakness in cracks and failures in high stress locations such as pivot points, hinges, and the like, especially in extreme heat or cold environments. Plastic Chevy door handle replacements from the dealer or aftermarket eventually do the same thing. For those looking to do something custom, be it a polished aluminum look, body color paint, or other finish like powder coating, we also offer these Chevy Silverado door handle replacement handles in a raw aluminum finish. Either way, you’re getting new outside door handles reinforced in all critical areas that work with all factory mounting points, and actuator rods. Besides finish options you can choose from just replacement handles that reuse your housings, front or rear door kits assembled with new reproduction housings, or a complete four door set of front and rear handles pre-installed in reproduction housings ready for installation.

The outside Chevy door handle sets include new retaining pin hardware (machine screws with nuts) if your original retaining pins are damaged, worn, bent, etc. If you opt for just our door handles you will need to remove your handle housings for installation and the pivot spring does require some dexterity/effort to place properly, but certainly doable by the average enthusiast. Note that the complete kits with new housings do not include installation hardware, as your original retaining nuts should be reused. If your factory hardware is damaged beyond reuse, or rusted to the mounting stud, breaking off during removal, you will need three M6-1.0 metric nuts per handle housing to install them. We highly recommend our kit versions due to the high frequency of housing stud failure, plus if you’re looking to paint your outside handles you’ll want new housings anyway.
