Run Full Exhaust on Your 63-72 C10 With Our Trailing Arm Crossmember Pass Through

The Chevy C10 pickup’s rear suspension proved quite effective when released. So much so that NASCAR used the famed “truck arm” suspension based on the C10’s design from the early 1960s all the way up until the Next Gen platform launch in 2022. That’s more than 50 years under some of the winningest NASCAR race cars. Today, the C10’s rear trailing arm setup is still a popular choice for everything from mild street builds to corner carving pickups just inches off the ground. However, there is one issue that begets the typical C10 trailing arm setup when the truck is lowered and that is ground clearance. This is especially a concern in relation to the exhaust system.

The factory 63-66 and 67-72 C10 exhaust routing exhaust usually ran lower than the frame rails, which isn’t an issue on a typical C10 as it left the factory. But drop it down in the weeds to give it that killer stance that’ll snap necks and suddenly, your exhaust system has nowhere to go to get to the rear of the truck. Your options are pretty much turn downs (dumps!) in front of the trailing arm crossmember or fabricating some sort of C10 side exit exhaust. Otherwise, if you attempt to go under the crossmember you’ll most likely be getting intimate with every speed bump and road reflector in town! The solution to your woes is to pass your exhaust through the trailing arm crossmember. However, the crossmember is a solid piece of steel and not designed for such a thing. Don’t worry, we have just the fix (and it is easy!) with our exhaust pass through kit!

High-Strength Steel Construction and Easy No Welding Required Installation

We know fabricating a clean dual exhaust on your C10 is high on your build’s punch list, and adding our 63-72 C10 exhaust pass through kit makes things easy. The exhaust pass through kit consists of strong 7-gauge cold rolled steel plate that features a 1026 DOM steel sleeve welded to it. This sleeve provides a generous 3.62-inch inside diameter, allowing 3-inch exhaust tubing to pass through with ease. Fully welded and ready for installation, the pass-throughs not only provide a clean solution to pass your exhaust through your trailing arm crossmember but provide reinforcement to the crossmember as well versus just cutting an access hole in your crossmember with a torch or plasma cutter.

Installation is made easy with our included 14-gauge laser cut steel template. Simply align the template with the one factory crossmember hole already there on each side and temporarily secure the template with the included hardware. Drill out the three new mounting holes for the included 5/8-inch Grade 5 hex bolts with locking stover nuts and mark the center 4-inch hole using the template as well. You can either cut the center out via a hole saw or other cutting method. Once complete your exhaust system can be fabricated to run tight up through the frame and over the rear axle for exiting at the rear bumper or rear bedside behind the rear tires. No longer will you have to suffer with your 63-66 or 67-72 C10 exhaust routing causing you headaches (literally and figuratively!) with our easy to install exhaust pass through conversion kit for late first gen and second gen C10 pickups.

The instructions and provided hardware allowed this installation to go perfectly. I used a spare 1/4in bolt to help hold the template on place while using a hole saw to make the hole in the crossmember. Take your time and it will come out perfectly.
