The lower arms in this kit utilize 1/2" i/d lower bushings thus requiring the 1970-1974 bolt application when used with a 1975-1981 chassis application. We suggest checking your vehicles current hardware size before ordering to confirm. Upper a-arm hardware # 185-2601 is the same size for 1970-1981.
Tech Tip: P/N 185-2602 includes ½” lower a-arm bolts (to use with these lower arms) while P/N 185-2603 will include 14mm lower arm bolts.
Improve Your Camaro or Nova’s Handling and Looks with a Bolt-On Control Arm Upgrade
Your second gen Camaro/Firebird and fifth gen Nova utilize the same bolt-in front subframe assembly. This production piece uses traditional stamped steel upper and lower control arms fitted with a coil spring and a shock absorber for dampening. These pieces provided a fairly decent ride 40 plus years ago on skinny radial tires. However, today’s world is vastly different. We want our muscle cars to handle, fit big disc brakes, and wide sticky rubber. These stock stamped steel control arms can literally flex and fail under the cornering and braking forces applied to them, especially in a track environment. The last thing any enthusiast wants is a part failure that could potentially cause damage to their pride and joy (or worse, cause injuries). Updating your GM pony car with Speedway Motors’ beefy Camaro tubular control arms strengthens and enhances your muscle car’s ride.
Tubular Control Arms Resist Flex and Twisting, Improving Handling and Braking over Stamped Control Arms
As we stated earlier, a stamped steel control arm invites lots of sloppiness into your suspension due to flexing and twisting. While a stamping is indeed stronger than a flat sheet of metal, tubing is stronger still. So, when creating control arms from steel tubing you greatly increase the rigidity of the product, eliminating that slop from twisting and flexing. What does that mean for you behind the wheel? When it comes to tubular control arms vs stock you dive into a corner on our tubular control arms your vehicle will go where you point it to. Getting down on that brake pedal for some extreme braking? Even your brakes will perform better since your control arms aren’t flexing under that hard braking input.
These are the best tubular control arms Camaro and Nova owners will find and feature a robust 1-1/4-inch diameter DOM steel tubing for both the upper control arms and the lower control arms. The tubular control arms are finished in a show-quality gloss black powder coat. Wall thickness of our tubular steel control arms is .120-inch on both the upper and lower control arms. Due to the thickness and material diameters these control arms are of similar weight to the stock stamped steel arms yet are significantly stronger.
We have fitted maintenance free self-lubricating plastic bushings and OE-spec ball joints to our tubular A arms. Easy access grease fittings are added to the ball joints to make lubrication of these joints a breeze. Polyurethane bump stops are included for both upper and lower arm assemblies and these control arms are compatible with stock-style shock absorbers or can be used with aftermarket coilover shocks.
A Direct Bolt-In Solution That Is Easy to Install
Our tubular lower control arms bolt into place using the included control arm mounting hardware to keep your project from grinding to a halt. We designed the Speedway Camaro control arms to accept your stock sway bar end links, so there is no need to replace your sway bar or end links just to fit these control arms. The end link mounting point is compatible with both stock and aftermarket sway bars and their end link hardware. We were even able to create additional ground clearance in designing these lower control arms versus the stock arms!
The tubular upper control arms in our kit feature 5 degrees of positive caster to improve vehicle handling. A direct bolt-in solution, just reuse your factory press-fit upper control arm bolts and lock nuts. We also offer a nice selection of alignment shims for your upper control arms if your old shims are damaged or you need additional shims to set your alignment to your preferred specifications.
What more could you ask for from a set of bolt-on Speedway tubular control arms like these? Your muscle car gains increased handling, lower ride height, performance bushings with minimal deflection, and more, all without the cost of upgrading to an aftermarket subframe and the major work that entails.

Welds look good and they give you the thickness of the steel tube as opposed to some on ebay which are cheaper but who knows the specs. The powder coating is done well also. It does not come with instructions but the top a-arms are to be angled towards the front where you have more caster. The lower ones the holes for the antisway bar are to the front.

Great product BUT... I too need to cut the springs to lower the height back to normal. I just don't know how much to cut??? I need about a 2" drop. Others say they've had to cut as well... but how much to cut??

Seems solid, ,and bolted up great. However the lower control arm uses a slightly smaller bolt then the factory. May or may not cause an issue with moving very slightly when hitting bumps? 🤔

I had to cut 3/4 off the coil springs to get the ride height back down to normal and the ball joints were very tight. Good quality though.

Well, these are great arms, but if there saying you need 71-76 b body arms and you can't figure out why it's because the upper are has a drop right at the ball joint this don't have.
