Speedway Motors 91667914 Details

These steel Ford Y-Block car alternator brackets mount in the same location that the generator did, but allows you to run the common GM Delco style alternator. You should even be able to run the same belt length as the original.

Application

Works for most of the Y-block applications except for the 1955-57 T-Bird application.  It will not hold the alternator in the proper location for the belt alignment on the 1955-57 T-Bird application.

Applicable to most of the 1954-62 Car and 1954-64 Truck Y-blocks except the T-Bird as noted.

Overall Assessment

Customers find our product, an alternator bracket, favorably beneficial for Ford Y-Blocks. Appreciated for its perfect fit, easy installation, and effective use in alternator conversions, the bracket replaces traditional generators, enhancing electrical functionality. One user even stated "it's unbreakable," with others confirming its practicality when modernizing vintage cars. Some customers reported a slight misalignment of the alternator or suggested improvements in its weld quality. However, by contrasting these points to countless positive appraisals, our product outperforms competitors and DIY alternatives, both in function and convenience.

Great Product

I had tried building several configurations of alternator brackets, none of which pleased me. When I saw this one online; it looked to be a good choice. This bracket bolted right on-and fit perfectly. Worked better than expected.

OK but does not fit all Y blocks

When fitted to an early 1955 F100 239 Y Block that has the 4070 model fuel pump the timming case is different to other Y blocks so the braket fits but the pulley on the alternater is about 1 inch to far forward. I had to alter the bracket. The adds for this part say may not fit Thunderbird engines it should also say the early 239 Y block 1955 F100 with waterpump mounted fan the pulleys don't line up.

Bracket seams well made, welds look good. I did have to clearance my motor Mount about a 1/4" to get bottom bracket positioned. With clearance everything fit nicely.

Perfect fit.
