Gasket material unsuitable for use in a gas cap

The rubber used as the gasket is not compatible with gas! This is a problem as this is a GAS CAP! The rubber swells and will not seal. Gas then leaks past onto the paint and since this is a Model A, the smell of gas come in the car.

    Questions & Answers

    2 Questions • 2 Answers

Is it possible to post a picture of the inside of the cap? How is the inside threaded portion held to the outside? Is there one or 2 rivets?

    1 answer

You state the inside diameter is 2-3/16" or (2.187") which is correct for the tank- I hope that means the inside diameter of the threads. I have purchased two from different vendors and they are too large (inside threads) for my '29 as well as three other 29 tanks I tried them on. If you guys can verify the inside diameter - I will purchase some.
