What's in the Box

Info

Rebuilt 1969-77 mid and full size caliper. 7/16"-20 inlet so you can use the readily available brake hoses and hardware from Pre-1978 GM midsize cars. IMCA approved.

No core charge required. Fits 1" thick rotor. 2.8" diameter pistons installed. It has 7-1/16" center to center mounting holes. The width between mounting tabs is 2-3/4".

Item Details

7/16"-20 Inlet

Application

This caliper is a standard full size GM caliper used for years on many vehicles (1969-72 Chevelle, 73-77 A-Body, 1969-1981 Camaro, 1977 Caprice, S-10 pickups, etc). It will fit any bracket / spindle designed for the large GM calipers (7” mount width).

Depending on the spindle and rotor size it will not fit in most 14” wheels (nor in 15” drum brake wheels).

Is this a replacement for the GM 18002328 Caliper. I own a 1936 Chevrolet Master Deluxe Street Rod with a "Fat Man" 6" dropped straight axle, with Chevrolet Bolt on Spindles, GM 11" by 1" disc rotor, and the GM 18002328 angled brake line caliper. Is your caliper a direct replacement for this unit of mine? Can you help.

I had the GM 18002328 calipers on my 1970 El Camino, and I replaced them with these. They aren't perfectly identical; there's TRIVIAL differences in them versus the GM ones, but they are quite obviously meant to replace them as far as I'm concerned. Looks the same, works the same.

This caliper is the midsize GM from '69 to '77 and stems from the Chevelle, Monte Carlo, etc. We apologize but that GM part number does not cross over in our computer. The mount centers for the slide bolts on this caliper are 7 1/16” center to center and the fluid inlet is 7/16" - 20 thread. If these specs match your caliper then it should be a direct replacement.

What size bleeder screw do these calipers use? 3/8-24 or 7/16-20? Bought these calipers awhile back. When I look up GM mid size calipers 69-72 it says 3/8-24 but the size and threads are way to small. Have these been modified from the factory originals?

Yes these are specific for left and right. There is a drop down menu located just above the "Add To Cart" button where you can choose which side to order.

This is not what we would refer to as a Metric caliper but it will work fine for your application as long as you use brackets part number 91631913. This would be for a Mustang II or Pinto spindle.

Rotor number 91031035 is commonly used on the GM and other manufacturers stock rotors measuring 1-1.10 thick. To use on a 1 3/16” thick rotor would require taking the pads down the needed amount for clearance. Modifying the caliper itself would not be recommended.

A 1" master cylinder should work for your application. Slide bolts are ot included, part #8352300542 sold as each. We offer several different pads for this caliper. Part #9191563 is the most economical. We also offer US Brake, Wilwood and Hawk pads

Does this include: 1) The copper inlet hose washers seen in the picture 2) The screw/valve for the inlet hose itself 3) The mounting bolts to attach it to the bracket/spindle 4) The piston 5) Anti-rattle clips for the pads 6) Anything else needed for this caliper to be attached/used in addition to what I've asked. For each of these, if it doesn't include it I would like to know the part number of it if you carry it. I'm looking to get things as loaded as possible to do a rather complete replacement of very old rusty parts.

# 1 copper crush washers are included. # 2 banjo bolt is not included with the caliper. If you are doing a complete job, you might consider purchasing new hoses such as 617-8568. Banjo bolts are included with these hoses. # 3 Caliper bolts are not included. You would need 8352300542 qty. 2 per caliper. # 4 Theiston is installed in the caliper. # 5 Anti Rattle spring is included. As I do not have the actual Model Year of your vehicle, you will need to verify the parts before you order them.

Depending on the mount centers of your rear disc conversion would be the concerning factor. The 69-77 calipers have a 7 1/16" mount center for the slide bolts whereas the later Metric calipers have 5 7/16" mount centers. This along with the rotor size and bracket locating the caliper in the correct location from the center.

This brake caliper has slide bolt mounting locations that are 7 1/16" center to center. You will need to compare to the spread needed for your application since these are not listed specifically for it. It is possible that this type of caliper was used to convert to disc brakes on your car.
