Overall Assessment

Customers appreciate this headlight conversion kit for its simplicity and the improved visibility it provides. Several reviews highlighted the kit's ability to modernize, while maintaining the original look of vehicles like the 1929 Ford model A and 1936 Chevy Standard Coupe. The installation process is generally described as easy. However, some customers find the fasteners unsatisfactory and opted to secure the bulb socket with sheet metal screws, indicating a possibility for product improvement. Despite this, most customers found alternative solutions, showing a high level of satisfaction with the product's performance. This kit is a preferred choice for those wanting to upgrade their original headlights to halogen bulbs.

1930-1931 Chevy Headlights Read then decide.

Used to replace standard 32-50w 12v bulbs in '30-'31 Chevy headlights on ratrod. The "flange" that the press nut mounts to on the backside is a little short due to the flat base on the socket seat...since reflector is concave/curved mine didn't come out the backside enough to easily press on nut. Took some persuading and ingenuity to get mine on without damaging the reflector...then, when I got the nut on, it had "tweaked" the socket seat and made it near to impossible to get light bulb to install. The base needs to be the same shape as the press nut...at least for '30-'31 Chevy headlights...I'm sure all reflectors are not the same shape and may work better for other models. The instructions didn't state how to "clock" the bulb socket(unless I missed it)...low beam throws only to 1 side or half of the light...I mention that because if yours fits as tight as mine, you'll have trouble "clocking" it after install...and I'm using a painted reflector so it mattered. *Take the advice from another reviewer and use the proper hole drilling tool to enlarge the reflector hole...if you're not familiar with drilling thin metal. 1 month since install and all is well.

I would purchase this product again

I needed to upgrade the headlights on my 1936 Chevy Standard Coupe. This halogen conversion kit seemed like just the ticket. I was not happy with the fasteners that were supposed to hold the bulb socket to the back of the reflector. there was no way they would have worked, but by drilling two small holes and using sheet metal screws I attached the socket to the reflector for a nice secure installation.

The design of the piece that holds the bulb and the ring that holds it is not very good I was unable to get the pieces to stay together but I finally settled on flaring out the metal where the retaining ring was supposed to lock on and hammering it flat to hold the socket in place overall it ended up working ok but nowhere near the way it was intended

Worked ok

The conversion socket looks like it is well designed and would work well with a different type of headlight bulb.

There was another review that mentioned the short length of the mounting flange and he was correct. The flange the retention ring slips over to hold the socket to your reflector is too short, approx 1/8" and it needs at least 1/4" to grab on to. Don't know how long this has been on the market but needs a very slight improvement to allow it to work in all situations. Not sure if I will keep it and try to figure out a way to mechanically fasten it another way.
