Q & A

What's in the Box

Hydraulic line pressure keeps brake secure. No special linkage. Not recommended for use with silicone brake fluid or as an emergency brake. Features 1/8" NPT female on inlet/outlet.

Device is generally used to lock the rear brakes. To set the lock, step on the brakes, push the lock knob down, and take your foot off the brake. To release the lock, step on the brake again slightly harder than before and it will release automatically.

Warning:This is not compatible with any silicone brake fluid.

O ring failure or missing

October 13, 2014
This situation puzzles me. I have installed several of these locks in the past. However, in this case, after installing line lock, I applied normal brake pressure as a test. Brake fluid immediately began to gush from the stem seal, creating a real mess. Either the O ring instantly failed or was not installed during the manufacturing process. It created quite the mess as you might imagine. My guess is that this is an unusual defect created at the manufacturer. A little quality control is in order. Go Army. Thank you.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Junk

May 31, 2014
I tried to save money with this line lock but that was a mistake. Maybe I just got a defective one, but it didn't work at all. It actually worked one time and then after that it acted like a check-valve and locked every time I pushed the brakes--rather scary! Note, I did NOT have it installed backwards. Also, I found virtually no documentation or support. I wound up pitching the thing in the trash and buying a better quality lock.
No, I would not recommend this product.

easy to install works great

I have had one for several years on a manual transmission vehicle and have never had an issue. If too much pedal pressure is applied only way to release is to bleed pressure by opening one of the bleed valves on a wheel cylinder
Yes, I recommend this product.

Works good

March 30, 2010
It looks good and seems to work well. I haven't really put it to the test yet but I think it'll do well. The only thing I don't like is that there is less movement of the knob than I expected. I expected the the throw of the knob to be roughly 3/8" - 1/2" but it can only be pushed in about 1/4" so it's hard to visually tell whether it's pushed in or not.
Pros:
  • Easy Installation
Yes, I recommend this product.

PARK-LOK MOVEMENT I have not installed the Park-Loc yet but am concerned that there is so little play in the up and down position of the control. No coil bind but will only move up and down a 1/16th of an inch or less. Should I put some brake fluid in and see if it frees up or ? Mel

This Park lock commonly has about ¼ to 3/8” of travel for engagement. If yours is limited to 1/16” you may try a little brake fluid like you mentioned to free it up and if still to that limit of travel please contact our customer service department.

This Park Lok generally is installed in the line going to the rear brakes for easier access but can be installed and used on either the front or rear brakes. No specification is made for a particular master cylinder and the unit can be used with Dot 3 or 4 brake fluid but is not compatible with silicone brake fluid.

Universal Mechanical Brake Light Switch
(Part #91031306)

Our mechanical brake light switch is "closed" in the at rest position. It breaks the circuit when pushed. Mounts near your brake pedal and the arm can be bent as needed. 42 amp max rating.

Use for your street rod, truck, or muscle car!

Adjustable Proportioning Blocks With Brake Light Switch
(Part #91031358)

This adjustable proportioning block allows you to run lines from the master cylinder to the block and then to the appropriate wheels. What is neat about it is that it also contains the proportioning valve and brake light switch. This dramatically reduces the amount of fittings needed and potential leaks.

The adjustable proportioning valve regulates rear brake pressure, helping to maintain correct brake bias between front and rear brakes. It is designed for dual bowl master cylinders. The distribution block connects to the master cylinder and distributes brake fluid to all four wheels. An easy to turn handle with directional arrows makes it simple to either increase or decrease rear brake pressure.

The block accepts 3/16" brake lines and the inlets and outlets on this unit are 3/8"-24 inverted flare females.  It has two inlets from the master cylinder, two outlets to the front brakes and one outlet to the rear brakes.  It includes five stainless steel 3/16" fittings and wiring pigtail for rear brake light switch. Mounts to any convenient location. This is not a direct factory replacement for original blocks. Some line modifications may be necessary.

Brake Metering-Hold-Off Valve
(Part #91031363)

If you touch the brakes and the fronts instantly lockup, you need this valve. It allows the rear brakes a chance to start to engage before the front brakes do, which gives you a better feel and more control.

It does not replace the proportioning valve, but compliments it. 3/8"-24 IFF fittings.
