What's in the Box

Info

These neat valve covers are designed to look like the early Oldsmobile valve covers but fit late style small block Chevys using center bolt valve cover cylinder heads.  They can also be used with conventional small block cylinder heads by using the valve cover adapter kit listed below.  Order one set of valve covers and one set of looms.

910-8202: These valve covers have one, 1.22" hole in each cover to accept a PCV valve grommet, or a filler plug. They measure 2.5" from their own gasket surface to the underside of the 'top' of the valve cover. The customer will add the thickness of their valve cover gasket and/or the adapter for early heads, to determine rocker arm clearances. The plain finish valve covers and indeed plain, die-cast aluminum. Not painted.

Super cool and quality.

The Oldsmobile Rocket was a popular swap back in the day so these are really going to look great on my SB 400 I'm putting in my 48 Chevy Coupe. I'm quite pleased that these were created for a small block Chevrolet. I sure can't see anything wrong with these.
Pros:
  • Bolt System Is Superlativ
  • BEAUTIFUL
  • Quality Materials
  • Glad They Were Created
Cons:
  • A Little Pricey Oh Wel
  • No Problem
Yes, I recommend this product.

fit great and were ready for finish

Used these on a 3rd gen f-body with Dart heads. The bolts needed trimming but that has been my experience with all centerbolt covers when used on Dart heads. While the covers are short enough to clear the wiper motor and heater box, they still cleared the roller rockers that are supplied with the GM LT4 Hotcam kit. Had to clearance the rear alternator bracket because the gasket rail was thicker than that of the Proform covers that were replaced. Fantastic casting that took minimal prep for finish. Would not hesitate to buy again.
Pros:
  • great casting
Yes, I recommend this product.

A standard PCV valve for a SBC will work in these valve covers or you could use one of ours such as 91011034 or 91017118. Thank you for the kind words about Speedy Bill. He is missed greatly.

I have a set of your olds small block chev valve covers P# 9108202. My engine is blowing oil so I replaced the valve covers with a set of stock covers with opening for a pvc valve and oil breather and it quit Do you have or recommend an oil breather set up that I can use with these neat valve covers without drilling the top spark plug wire cover ( P#9108302) My prefference would be to put a breather on the side of the cover as to not disturb the spark plug covers.

If you're running a carb I would run a 1/4 hose from the supplied elbow up to the underside of the air cleaner base. You will need drill into the base and install a bulkhead fitting. You will also, if you haven't already, need to use the elbow, 1/4" Hose and the recommended inline pcv valve to run from the other cover to the carburetor's vacuum port. If this is not how you would like to go about ventilating your engine then Speedway offers several of the old style bolt-on breathers, that are baffled. Any of these would work well and maintain the look of your roadster. Good luck.

Without drilling through the wire covers you will not be able to use the existing hole in the valve covers for a PCV or breather. The only option would be to add a hole in the end or the top side of the valve covers and using a PCV or push in breather. The issue would be the correct location to allow for rocker arm clearance.

I will be using these valve covers on a small block Chevy along with the adapter. What gasket would I need to order to seal these valve covers to the adapter?

You will need adapters 91017145 to install these on early perimeter bolt valve cover cylinder heads. Gaskets 91010215 will be needed for the adapter to the head and gaskets 91010218 to seal the valve cover to the adapters.
