The Grand National rearend that we have with the mounts welded on only have the one trailing arm hole. What you could do is get part #91048323 rear end and get the bracket kit part #91095323 and weld it up yourself, this would give you multiple holes for the trailing arms.

When using the 5 on 4 3/4" bolt pattern hubs you can easily remove the 5/8" studs supplied in the hubs and screw studs 91048397 into place. When using 5 on 5" bolt pattern hubs the studs are pressed in. The studs are easily removed but the perfect replacement studs are hard to find. We offer part number 54546190 which is very close but the knurl diameter need for the hub is actually .695" so that stud will be just a little loose. I have heard of people welding them in place to keep them from spinning. Also you will need to grind a small flat spot on the flange of the stud to clear the hub. This will be easy to duplicate once you see the 5/8" studs that you remove from the hubs.

Are these axles strong enough to use on a Ford Ranger off-road pre-runner? I will be using a 31 spline locked 9 inch. I will also truss axle in rear and top.

This rear end kit is marketed toward circle track racing. The hubs and bearings are very stout but with your application we are not able to give a good recommendation. You may want to get some advice from off road enthusiasts as to how a floating hub 9" Ford handles the application you plan to use it in.

Brake questions: Calipers and rotor upgrade Brake questions: Is there a weld on caliper mount to utilize the Wilwood Dynalite calipers (I have a couple of sets on hand)? Based on the comments about swapping to gun drilled axles, is it safe to assume I could upgrade to the drilled/scalloped rotors as well?

Bracket # 916-41001 would work just fine for mounting a 5 1/4 dynalite caliper to this axle housing. Yes we can upgrade you to the drilled scalloped rotors as well you would just have to pay the difference in pricing.

Is it possible to buy this with 28 spline axles? All three of my gears for my race car are 28 spline. I broke an axle in my non floater rear end and want to switch to a floater but I don't want to buy different gears. Thanks.

This rear end already comes with rotors so you just need brake calipers and brake caliper brackets to finish up the brakes. Brake calipers 91031045 and weld on brackets 91641009 work well with this rear end kit. Then brake pads of your choice of compound will and some brake pad spacers part number 91041908 will finish up the brakes. This rear end is intended for use in circle track racing applications and does not typically work well for street use since it uses 5/8" wheel studs. Most commonly available street wheels accept up to 1/2" wheel studs max.

DRP Performance 10518 Grand National Rear Hub Bearing Spacer
(Part #91010518)

These hub bearing spacers allow for consistent and precise bearing load every time the spindle nut is tightened, regardless of the torque applied. Without a bearing spacer, bearings are typically over tightened to prevent loosening during the race. With a bearing spacer installed, you can completely tighten the spindle nut and the hub will spin free every time. Bearing spacers save time, reduce bearing temperature and greatly increase wheel free spin, putting more horsepower to the wheels. You can feel the difference by simply pushing the car!

Testing has shown that the bearing spacer will make more difference than any “Low Drag” bearing set up currently available. When the spacer is used in conjunction with “Low Drag” Tapered bearings and seals, you will have the ultimate Low Drag set-up. These adjustable bearings feature a threaded sleeve and set screw to ensure you'll never have to worry about an over-tightened hub again!

  • 2.5” Short Track 5×5 Rear
  • Adjustable
  • 200%-300% more free spin vs. no spacer
  • Designed to fit all Grand National spindle and hub combinations
  • Makes servicing hubs simple & quick
  • Bearings run cooler
  • Saves time
  • Eliminates bearing “Spin” on spindle
  • Distributes side load evenly across bearings
  • Works on tapered and angular contact bearings
  • Once Set, typically never has to be adjusted unless bearings or hub is replaced
  • Instructions Included
  • Precision Machined in the USA
  • +/- .001” Minimum Parallelism
  • Sold each
