Better than installing another engine pr

September 22, 2014
With all the junk on the engine eliminating a temp probe and wire just makes sense. I put this unit in the glove box and hooked it to the temp gauge as directed (sweet). Once installed, I just dialed it in on the temp desired and it stays there. Great!
Pros:
  • easy & simple
Cons:
  • None so far
Yes, I recommend this product.

Years of perfection!!

June 15, 2013
If you know how it should be hooked up correctly then you wont have any problems. Other people are burning them up because there fans draw to many amps its only rated a 30 amps. I am going with bigger fans now so im going to use two of these just to be on the safe side.
Pros:
  • very depenable
Cons:
  • does not handle high aperage fans
Yes, I recommend this product.

Very good device

February 22, 2012
I've been using mine in my Street Rod for several years now. Works perfectly after the temperature has been set. Very durable, I have had it out-last (by 3 times!)the more expensive Spal controller that I installed on another car with dual fans. Using the temperature sending wire for the temperature gage is it's best feature because it will keep the engine compartment neat and clean with less wires running around and by using the gage you will know what temperature the fan is going to turn on.
Pros:
  • Easy hook-up
  • Durable
Yes, I recommend this product.

I would purchase this product again

August 01, 2010
I mounted the control on the inside of the fire wall, ran the wire to the temperature gage cut the wire to the fan and it was done. No other temperature sensor was required. The unit allows you to adjust the on temperature. I added an external led and a bypass switch. I did not want the fan to run when ever the ac was on.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This unit can be used on a two speed fan but you will only be able to use one fan speed (either high or low). You could use two of these units and be able to adjust the on/off temperature of the low and high speed individually that way. Also this controller does have the ability to turn the fan on when the A/C is being used.

This cooling fan control will turn on automatically at specified temperature. The temperature setting is adjustable. Start engine and allow to warm to a temperature you would like it to operate. This temperature must exceed the thermostat temperature by a minimum of 8 degress. There is an approximately 6 degree difference between where the fan turns on and off.

They will work with any electric gauge but it needs to be a 0-220 degree gauge and sender for them to work correctly. If the gauge reads for instance 160 to 260 degrees the fans will come on till the temperature reaches 160 then go off and come back on at the temperature you have it set at so be sure your gauges start reading at 0 degrees.

This fan control works with electric sending units for most gauge manufacturers. There is no warning or elimination of electronic gauges whether analog or digital. For verification feel free to visit with a Speedway Tech or the manufacturer. There is a direct link to the manufacturer for hook up and trouble shooting operation problems.

These electric fan controls come with a 30 amp relay and is sufficient for several fan applications. If using in conjunction with a fan that is suggesting a 70 amp relay we suggest using a higher amp rated relay. The relay takes the current surge created on initial start up of the cooling fan. Without a relay in the system damage to the electronic control may result.

The controler 91064023 will work with dual fans as long as the current draw is not over the 30 amp relay in the unit. If you have higher current draw additional relays would be suggested.

I don't have AC. Will this work on my roadster? I only have one easy access probe outlet and it's used by my temp gauge. Considering a Spal VA18-AP71/LL-59A * 16"C/12V. If temp gauge sender fails...No reading AND no fan? If good product, it will keep me from adding a thermostat housing with an outlet. Would be nice to have a downloadable PDF install manual so I wouldn't have to bother people.

Yes it sounds like for your application this would work well. Yes if your sender fails that means the fan and the gauge would not work.

Is this a progressive controller, meaning will it ramp up the fan speed or is it just off/on control.

It will not ramp up fan speed but it is adjustable and does not use its own sender. This uses the sender from an electric gauge.
