bought 2 times and fits great

December 10, 2010
I use this kit on 1968 jeepster's buick v6 engine,at first tech's comment said it don't fit as far he knows. But I found Buick v6 & v8 has same bolt pattern from my own research, so I took a chance and ordered.. I am very happy with the product. I recommend to bevel middle bolt holt on adaptor to buick bolt pattern and use 3/8" torx or allen flathead bolt 1" long. and I epoxy (jb weld) nut on top chevy trans. bolt on the adaptor so I can bolt all together and it works great.very happy. thanks
Pros:
  • Great Company
  • Will fit buick v6
  • Great price
Yes, I recommend this product.

I emailed and got a respose back. They said using a adapter will cause no problems. All i will need to converting the old school trans to the LS is flex plate kit #399754 which makes up for the different depth crank shaft. The rest will just bolt up.

The crank converter sleeve positions the flexplate and supports the converter hub. Without mock up when using the Olds adapter plate which is 1/8” thick you may need a longer spacer sleeve. You may want to contact TCI for a correct length of spacer sleeve.

Yes this adapter plate will allow you to use a Pontiac transmission on your 350 Chevy V8 engine. Be sure to check that the length of the transmission is the same, as well as the output shaft diameter spline to be sure it will be compatible with your drive shaft. If everything matches between the two then it will be a basic bolt in swap. If you are removing an TH350 transmission and installing a TH400 Pontiac transmission then you will need to alter the crossmember positioning as well as change drive shaft length and slip yoke size for the larger TH400 output shaft. Also the TH400 uses an electronic kickdown system that you would have to retrofit onto your Suburban.

This plate does not have a power rating but it shouldn't have any issue with a 500 horsepower engine.

flex plate problems I bolted my 72 Chevy to a Cadillac th400 but I keep breaking the flex plate I'm on my fifth one. I'm running a j.w. Performance 29.2 flex plate and only getting about 500 miles out of them. At 340 dollars a pop I can't afford to keep replacing them. Any thoughts?

If you have broken that many flex plates then you have a serious problem. You should check to make sure that the torque converter you are using will slide into the the back of the crankshaft. If not then you may be pulling the flex plate back toward the converter and putting it in a bind.

You may be able to utilize this adapter plate to mate your Buick 400 to your LS but you will definitely need the flaexplate and adapter sleeve number 57534610 and 57518346 to mate the converter to the crankshaft. The flexplate bolts if needed are number 1012442901.

Yes this adapter plate can work to adapt your Saginaw/Muncie manual transmission to a Buick 455. Typically people that do that sort of swap with a manual transmission would locate a Buick bell housing for a manual transmission so that no adapter is required.
