Works Well

By madmatt54 from Lufkin, Tx on 11/6/2011
Pros:
Bends well, Easy to use
Cons:
Slow moving
Best Uses:
Chassis and bumper
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Bender works as it should. I've bent 1.25" and 1.5" tubing with no kinks or wrinkles. It does take quite a few pumps to get the bend. I see an air jack in my future, but for now the bottle jack does the job and works very easily. There's no real strain to get the tube bent. It only bends 90*, but you can get more angle and sharper bends by bending a little then moving the tube and bending more, but I tend to get slight wrinkling when I do this.

FIX IT MYSELF!!!? REALLY!!!!?

Cons:
Limited Function
Best Uses:
Home, Minor Repairs, Regular Maintenance
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The product was easy to use once I figured out all the measurments and where I needed to make the bends. There is no booklet explaining any of this for what you need to do for chassis demensions and what the bender takes up or what the dies use up when bending tubing. There are a couple of things that the speedway staff came up with that "The customer might want to do to make it easier to use". There is also a safety issue with the safety cable that runs thru the spring. One 90 degree bend with the 1.75 die and the cable comes apart. Don't contact customer service. Customer service knows there is an issue with this and, they will just tell you to fix this yourself.

Customer Service Response

Dan, we regret hearing about your issues with the bender. We take your concerns very seriously and will consider revising the safety cable.

Works Great!

After reading the reviews I decided to buy this today. I love it so far but can relate to- "There is also a safety issue with the safety cable that runs thru the spring. One 90 degree bend with the 1.75 die and the cable comes apart." The cable is simply not long enough with where the lower bolt is located and pulls apart before the 90 degree. Simply relocating the lower bolt to a lower position should fix the problem. From seeing the design from the 1st generation bender, this one is MUCH improved. One other suggestion would be to have bigger print for the instruction manual. My reading vision is very good but I could hardly read the manual because of the small print and lack of ink that was on printed on the paper.
