Details

Original Flathead water pumps have always suffered from unreliable bronze bushings and carbon seals. They almost always leaked and even Ford manuals warned mechanics not to tighten fan belts too tight. The excess slack allowed belts to slip and lose contact with the generator and water pump pulleys, causing more cooling and power problems.

Speedway's completely new water pumps feature severe-duty roller and ball bearings, close tolerances and modular impellers to provide maximum flow and reduce cavitation. They also have modern ceramic seals on a heavy duty 5/8" shaft, making the assembly exceptionally strong and more efficient. All mounting areas are spot faced for improved fit and sealing.

Excellent quality product with great enh

Product bolts on and performs flawlessly. Will not pass muster for originality in judging competitions but functionally is on the mark. Body of the pump will need painting to match original Ford/Mercury blue (or green), and as well the end of the shaft in the middle of the pulley wheel requires painting black to maintain the fundamentals of originality. Given the wheels are cast the black semi-gloss finish is correct for the pulley only. Given my motor is new I am running a bit warmer than previously as expected (during break-in) so cannot comment at this time on the increased flow performance of the pumps. Performance to-date since install has been excellent.

1932 thru 1948 V8 water pumps

Your new pumps started leaking after a few thousand miles with in a couple of weeks from each other. I have used the original truck pumps with good service for many years before trying your pumps and will be going back to them. Norm

great deal of improvements to make them last. BEWARE future buyers, the castings are thinner. you may need to shorten mounting bolts on the middle mount hole and the inlet hole at the bottom. check length first and make needed adjustments to mounting bolt length. if you don't check this, your bolts will bottom out before they compress the water pump to the block and you will be dealing with leaky pumps. no fun
