Top Holiday Gifts for Race Car Drivers 2023

11/16/2023
Add Article To List

We know that it isn’t always easy to shop for that significant other in your life. Favorite colors and styles change, and you certainly don’t want to be caught buying the wrong size either for fear of spending a night or two in the dog house! So, we want to help make this holiday season’s gift shopping just a bit less stressful for you when it comes to that special race car driver in your life. We’ve whipped up a great list of gifts for race car drivers that they would just love to unwrap this holiday season. Just know you’re on your own when it comes to the gift wrapping part (Hint: gift bags are quick and easy and no need to have a degree in gift wrap paper folding to use!).

Safety First!

Most racers hate spending money on safety gear. We guess it is because safety items like helmets, fire suits, and harnesses don’t make the race car any faster or handle any better. So, it is up to you to add some new safety gear this holiday season to your list of race car gift ideas. We’ve listed some great safety items below that will make perfect gifts for race car drivers no matter what they are racing.

Side Air Helmet

Having a SA2020 helmet is mandatory in most any organized racing venue. So, if your significant other is still sneaking by with a SA2015 it’s time to step up to the new helmet designation. Our SA2020 side air helmet is a great upgrade that allows fresh air from an air pump system to ensure clean fresh air to breathe in the dirtiest and dustiest track conditions. It’s sure to be one of the most appreciated dirt track racing gifts this season.

Available in matte black or gloss white, our SA2020 side air helmets are the perfect gift for those dirt track racers in your life.

5-Point HANS Compatible Harness

If you’re racing anything on a track, be it dirt, paved, drag, or circle track, you’re going to need a harness to keep you secure. With the cost of entry coming down on head and neck support systems (HANS), many are switching over from standard foam neck collars. To do so, however, requires a HANS compatible harness. When it comes to gifts for race car drivers our 5-point latch and link harness is the perfect upgrade for use with a HANS system.

Our SFI 16.1 5-point latch and link harness feature narrowed shoulder straps for use with a HANS type device and use double stitched nylon material for strength.

Single Layer Racing Suits

Like much of the safety gear a racer uses, many SFI certified items time out, requiring replacement to maintain the high level of safety these items provide. This often includes harnesses, window nets, and other gear. A racer’s fire suit is one item, while SFI certified, does not usually have a mandatory replacement date. However, we recommend replacing a fire suit at the first signs of any wear, including pulled stitching, holes, or other damage. Our SFI 3.2A/1 single layer fire suits are a great entry level suit for sportsman racers if you’re looking for race car gift ideas this holiday season.

Available in one piece or two piece fire suits, our shiny suit material is easier to keep clean and has all the features a racer could want.

Skeleton Race Gloves

Keeping your racer’s hands safe while behind the wheel is just as important as a helmet, racing suit, or harnesses. Our cool skeleton hand printed racing gloves offer two layers of Nomex protection with a full leather palm for comfort and a great grip on steering wheels, shifters, etc. in all conditions. The extra long gauntlet helps protect the wearer’s wrist area and the hook and loop closure ensures the gloves stay put in the heat of the race.

While not SFI certified, our skeleton race gloves are a great solution for those racers looking for additional protection for their hands and wrists.

Get Your Maintenance On!

Race cars see a ton of abuse of their systems during a race. From the engine itself right down to the wheel hubs/brakes and everything in between. And that’s just considering maintenance type stuff. If there is a failure or damage due to contact with the wall or another racer, that race car has to come apart for repairs. The following maintenance and repair race car gifts are the perfect car racing gifts for him (or her) the upcoming racing season.

Engine Lift Slings

Freshening up that race bullet for the next season is certainly a right of passage when it comes to racing. However, extracting that expensive race engine with the traditional length of chain hanging off your cherry picker often ends up damaging expensive components, or requires you to remove a bunch of top end parts first. Our two point and four point engine slings ensure you can remove or install your race car’s engine without damage or without the time waste of having to remove top end components like induction and EFI bits, air cleaner box, etc. and can support up to 1,200 pounds!

Available in two point and four point configurations (four point shown), our engine lift slings quickly and easily remove or install your race car’s engine.

Mechanics Pit Crew Gloves

Whether it is repairs in the heat of the race, or your racer is simply working on their race car for the upcoming race weekend, wearing protective mechanics style gloves protects their hands from burns, cuts, and scrapes. Our mechanics pit crew style gloves make the perfect race car gifts because they will see a lot of use, both track side and elsewhere. They feature hook and loop wrist closure with four-way stretch material, padded palm protection and plastic knuckle protectors as well.

These mechanics pit crew gloves make great gift ideas for race car driver and crew, so pick up several pairs and outfit the whole team.

Quick Change Rear Drain Pan

Does your racer use a quick change rear axle setup in their race car program? If so, you’ve no doubt seen them struggle with quick change gear swaps and hunting for the gears within the hot oil of their drain pan. Why not make things easier for them this holiday season with our new quick change rear drain pan. This drain pan is designed specifically for quick change gear swaps with the provided gear placement shelf that is angled and perforated to help drain the oil off the gears and keep them out of the hot gear oil. Light, yet strong plastic construction insulates the user from the hot oil, while the carry handles and corner drain spout make it easy to get that old oil into a waste container.

Rotomolded for uniform thickness, our plastic quick change gear drain pan is the perfect solution for your racer with a quick change rearend.

Vertical Loading 9-inch 3rd Member Storage Box

Sticking with rearend-based racing gift ideas, what about that racer in your life that is using the Ford 9-inch axle in some form? We all know how versatile and strong the 9-inch is, which is why many racers run them and have multiple center sections/third members with various gear ratios available for different track/surface conditions, track lengths, etc. Standard 9-inch 3rd member cases store the center section horizontally, which usually means the whole assembly ends up sitting in gear oil. Our vertical storage box places the pinion upright, allowing the oil to drain off and keeping the center section casting clean and dry. They’re easy to use, stackable, and take up less room in your racer’s trailer.

For that racer that has several 9-inch third members in their race car trailer, get them organized with our vertical 9-inch storage box.

Speedway Motors Gift Cards

For those racers who are really hard to shop for in your life, there’s no better race car gifts than a couple of gift cards in their holiday stockings! No worries about getting the wrong size or something they don’t need. Simply choose a gift card value between $5 and $300 and whether you want to gift your favorite racer a physical gift card (shipped free!) or an eGift card via email (great for those remote racers that are hard to shop for in your family!). Our gift cards have zero fees and never expire too!

Not sure what to get your favorite racer? Don’t worry, they’ll still be thrilled to get a Speedway Motors gift card this holiday season.
