Eagle Motorsports, Inc. Visit

Add Article To List

Speedway Motors stopped by Eagle Motorsports, Inc., (a.k.a, EMi) to talk with the employees there about what they do as a company.

Speedway Motors sat down with Mike Long of EMi for a visit, and a bit of a history lesson as well.

EMi’s primary focus is as an open-wheel chassis and component manufacturer. Originally, there were four major brands that eventually merged into the company you see today.

In 2010 EMi allied themselves with Speedway Motors and moved from Springfield, IL to Lincoln, NE where they exist today. In 2012 Brian Schnee of Schnee Chassis came on board. Shortly after Brian joined the team, Mark Stallard of Stallard Chassis came into the fold as well. Rounding out the foursome was Rick Hench of Henchcraft.

This history, as well as the affiliates of EMi, can be found online at

Mike also takes Speedway Motors on a shop tour, giving us an inside peek at the inner workings of EMi. After a brief talk on the Sprint chassis, Mike turns it over to Rick Hench. Rick talks about the background of the Lightning Sprint, and how it evolved from what was originally called a Mini-Sprint into what you see on the tracks today.

Mike turns it over to Frank Galusha, Sales Manager and resident Micro-Sprint knowledge base. Frank in turn talks a bit about the Stallard Micro-Sprint Chassis. Franks sheds a little light on the history of Stallard, and how it came to be part of the EMi Family.

Jason is next up, with some information about some of the new products that EMi has developed. From additional aerodynamic enhancements, to lightweight pre-fabricated hydraulic and steering lines, EMi strives to stay at the leading edge of developments within the supporting sanctioning body rules. Say you have a bent nose wing post, and your sanctioning body requires a certain amount of distance between the wing and the front axle, and you tweak it even more. EMi developed a post with a slot so that you can move the wing up to an inch rather than trying to replace the post between races. He also shows some of the other new and innovation products that they have designed.
