Race or street, there’s no denying that Ford’s famed 9-inch rear axle is the default rear end that everyone swears by. From cruising the boulevard to launching at 7,000 rpm on the starting line, the 9-inch has been there and conquered it all. What makes the Ford 9- inch so popular? The beefy material of the carrier housing (aka center section, pumpkin, etc.), the hypoid gear design with beefy ring gear, its ease of service, and wide range of gear ratios that allow the 9-inch to literally be a “do it all” rear axle are just some of the key reasons that the Ford 9-inch is today, some 70 plus years after its introduction, still the most popular performance rear. Speedway Motors understands your 9-inch needs may vary from everyone else’s, which is why we offer a wide range of carriers, differentials, spools, gear sets, and more professionally assembled with expert care and properly setup and ready to install right out of the shipping/storage case and into your 9-inch axle housing.

Our Options

We offer strong nodular iron and aluminum carriers, including our own design carrier with improvements that include increased ribbing for strength, larger Daytona-style pinion support, forged steel 1310 yoke, forged steel caps with 1/2-inch grade 8 cap screws, and billet steel adjuster nuts. These carriers provide the proper foundation for your perfect 9-inch build, be it street or race. Choose gear ratios from 3.00:1 all the way to 7.33:1 (dependent upon carrier selection), all machined from strong 8620 cold-rolled steel blanks, to provide the best ratio for your needs and we’ll install the gears and set the proper gear pattern to your differential or spool of choice. Differential selection includes clutch and helical type differentials and both mini and full spools in 28, 31, and 35 spline axle options.
