Customers praise the product's practicality and adaptability, extensively using it for custom installations such as hood and trunk installations. It's recognized for its low-profile design, beneficial for trunk latches, and perceived to be a reasonable price for the convenience it offers. The item's usability has been highlighted, with a simple installation process. It works efficiently, despite some customers highlighting difficulties in figuring out its operation. Material quality is affirmed, given its durability in different installations. Nevertheless, an emergency release mechanism seems tricky to engineer. Customers recommend that purchase should accompany the correct release cable for optimal installation. Despite minor complications, customers express overall satisfaction and are willing to purchase the product again.

IMPORTANT READ!!!
This is an excellent product however a bit complicated to understand exactly how it works. So complicated that even the great folks at Speedway have problems explaining how to make it work. So I thought I would try and help! HERE are five steps to understanding this simple device..."I call it how to operate a hood latch for dummies" 1. If you are sitting there in your underwear studying this female and matching male parts...#91126110 and #91126112: You are probably thinking something is wrong because when you stick them together nothing latches. However this is exactly as planned by the manufacturer. 2. In order for this part to work, it has to be installed on the car and a release cable hooked up. When the cable is hooked up, you will need to adjust it so that the mechanism is closed. Meaning that before you even pull on the cable, it already has tension on it. 3. To do this before installation hold the female part in your left hand so that you can look right down where the plunger would go when the hood closes. The piece should be oriented so that the part numbers are at the top...this puts the activation device on the right hand side. Now holding it in your left hand take your right thumb and push up on the activation mechanism (that is the part with the Spring attached). While looking down into the female opening you will see the catch start to engage (like a camera shutter starting to close). 4. This is the adjustment that has to be made with the cable. This allows the plunger to catch and the hood to latch. If you take your thumb and push up harder on the activation devise you will see how the device releases when the cable is pulled. 5. I was told this whole thing is a safety device so that should something happen to the cable (if it should break while the hood is latched) the device would automatically fall back into the default open location allowing you to open your hood with out a torch.

not easily installable
Didn't purchase the proper release cable and it made it impossible to install. Poor purchase on my part. Wasn't able to use the part. Would not recommend.

Bought to replace one that couldn't be salvaged. Original one came from another vendor and the replacement was made 180 degrees different that the original. Speedway was the only place that had what I wanted.

Used the latch on Mid-Year Corvette to reverse the direction the hood opened. It was easy to install and works very well. It is small so doesn't appear bulky like some other latches. Only issue I have is it was next to impossible to engineer an emergency release mechanism in case the latch or cable failed...the release lever must be pulled in the same plane and angle as the existing lever and there was no way I could see to modify it without risking complete failure and having to cut a hole in the hood to get the hood open.

Wanted a latch that is low profile for a trunk latch and this fits the bill. With the sprung male component it should act as a trunk popper.
